What We Repair

Every repair is assessed individually. We'll tell you exactly what's needed, what it costs, and whether it's worth doing — before we touch anything.

Fringe Repair & Replacement

Fringe is the most exposed part of any rug and the first to show wear. We repair damaged fringe, replace missing sections, and restore discolored fringe to match the original. For rugs where the original fringe is beyond saving we source matching material and hand-attach new fringe that blends seamlessly.

Edge Binding & Surging

When the edges of a rug start to unravel the entire rug is at risk. Left untreated a small edge problem becomes a full structural failure. We re-bind and surge edges using color-matched thread to stop the unraveling and restore a clean finished edge.

Hole & Tear Reweaving

Holes, cuts, and tears in hand-knotted rugs can often be rewoven so cleanly the repair is invisible. We match pile height, color, and knot density to the surrounding area. For machine-made rugs we use patch and blend techniques that restore the visual integrity of the rug.

Pet Damage Restoration

Dogs and cats chew corners, scratch edges, and dig through pile. We assess the extent of pet damage and restore what's salvageable — reweaving chewed areas, re-binding clawed edges, and rebuilding corners that have been pulled apart.

Foundation & Warp Repair

Structural damage to a rug's warp and weft — the underlying threads that hold everything together — will cause the rug to buckle, ripple, and eventually fall apart. We repair broken warps and restore the structural integrity of the foundation before it becomes irreparable.

Backing Replacement

Latex and fabric backings deteriorate over time — crumbling, peeling, and releasing debris onto your floors. We remove damaged backings and apply a new backing appropriate for your rug type, restoring stability and protecting your floors at the same time.

"My dog chewed through the corner of a Persian rug my father brought back from Iran. I was devastated. ARC rewove it so well I can't even find where the damage was. It looks exactly like it did before."

Common Questions

Honest answers about rug repair.

It depends on the rug's value and the extent of the damage. For heirloom, antique, or high-quality hand-knotted rugs repair almost always makes sense. For lower-value machine-made rugs it depends on the repair cost versus replacement cost. We'll give you an honest assessment — if it's not worth repairing we'll tell you.

Simple repairs like fringe replacement or edge binding typically take 5 to 10 business days. More complex reweaving work on antique or hand-knotted rugs can take 2 to 4 weeks depending on the extent of the damage. We'll give you a timeline estimate when we assess the rug.

We repair hand-knotted, hand-tufted, flatweave, Navajo, and machine-made rugs. The techniques differ significantly between types — reweaving a hand-knotted Persian requires different skills than repairing a tufted rug. We'll identify your rug type and apply the correct repair method.

For most repairs on hand-knotted rugs the work is essentially invisible when done correctly. We match pile height, color, and knot density to the surrounding area. For machine-made rugs the repair may be slightly more visible depending on the pattern, but always dramatically better than leaving the damage untreated. We'll show you what to expect before we begin.

Yes — we recommend cleaning before or after repair depending on the situation. For most rugs we clean first so we're working on a clean foundation. You can add a cleaning to your repair order and we'll handle both at once, delivering your rug back clean, repaired, and ready to place.
